These cue bids ask the doubler to clarify his hand, with emphasis
on (in this order): three card support for opener's major, four or
more cards in an unbid major, stopper(s) in the opposing suit. The
cue bid is forcing to a limit situation, so it requires a good
hand. In the above auctions opener therefore promises another bid
if North does not bid game. See INTRODUCTION for the definition of
"limit situation."
